The Daring Way™: Learn to Integrate the Work of Brené Brown (Hybrid In-Person and Online Program)

  • Church of the Good Shepherd 1401 Carrollton Avenue Towson, MD, 21204 United States (map)

This program invites participants to dig deep into the story of who they are and who they want to be. We will creatively engage with Daring Greatly and Rising Strong, two of Brown’s best-selling books on how vulnerability and shame show up in our lives and impact the stories we are telling ourselves about our situations, and relationships in all areas of our lives. Participants will be encouraged to bring to the workshop a challenge or opportunity they are facing – what Brown refers to as an Arena – as their focus. An Arena can be something ongoing (i.e. returning to our “new normal,” or wanting to live into better boundaries) or specific (i.e. new job or challenging relationship.)

Participants will:

  • Learn what vulnerability is, how it shows up and directly impacts our thinking and feeling, and how to respond and utilize the power of vulnerability.

  • Learn practical ways to unpack the stories we are telling ourselves to enlarge our perspectives, reframe situations so that we can respond with courage and compassion.

  • Engage with the specific tools Brené Brown offers in ways that can be integrated immediately into their lives.

This is a hybrid in-person and online workshop. The first session, in person on Saturday, October 23 from 9a - 3p, will be the longest, followed by two shorter sessions via Zoom on Wednesday, October 27 from 7p-9p and Wednesday, November 10 from 7p-9p. This will allow participants to reflect on learnings from the first session, ask questions that arise in the interim, utilize the work and come back together to share and discuss what was exciting, new, and hard! In both formats we will watch brief videos of Brené Brown discuss topics; engage in individual and group reflection; writing exercises, and leave with ample exercises to keep using.

Participants are strongly encouraged to read either Daring Greatly or Rising Strong in advance of the program.

This program is limited to 15 participants.
